SYSTEM COUNCIL U-4 SPECIAL BULLETIN Bulletin # 01-06 August 3, 2001 PLEASE CIRCULATE TO ALL LOCATIONS (including show-up sites)
This past weekend, elections for System Council U-4 were held at the regular System Council meeting in Jensen Beach Florida. The results of the election are as follows: Officers: Business Manager: Brian K. Thompson President: Rick D. Curtis Vice President: Larry C. Snyder Treasurer: Carl L. Black Recording Secretary: Walt J. Crosson System Committeemen: Transmission/Distribution: George S. Skillas Glenn S. Forbes Ray Maxson Production: Wendell W. Mixon Larry T. Kyle Safety Committeeman: Clark A Hare We would like to congratulate all of the Officers and Committeemen on their re-election or election to their positions and look forward to working with each and every one of them as we move forward. We would also like to thank all of the previous Officers and Committeemen for their hard work and dedication to the brotherhood during their term and wish Brother Mike Brooks a very happy and well-deserved retirement. During the System Council meeting, the Council Office presented the officers and delegates with a new Job Steward training module on the grievance process and conducted a train the trainer session for them. The plan is to develop additional Job Steward training modules for each upcoming System Council meeting and conduct train the trainer sessions so the modules can be can be taught by the Local Unions to educate their Job Stewards on an ongoing basis. Please contact your Local Union President for information on when the training will be conducted in your Local Union.
As we move forward, this office is developing strategic plans to guide us into the future. Plans which include: Development of training programs for our officers, stewards and committeemen to enable them to perform their jobs more effectively while representing the membership and Local Unions. Finding ways to enhance communications with the membership and educating them as to what their roll is as a member and how they can assist their Local Union. And finally, focusing our attention towards the future by setting Union objectives and goals to actively pursue new opportunities previously unexplored in the past, to ensure our success while growing our organization.
