SC Recommends
The
System Council met in West Palm Beach, on Thursday, March 24th.
International Vice President, John Schantzen, was in attendance and
addressed the Delegates. He spoke about the recent negotiations of our
neighboring utilities and the impact of the high cost of “Medical” to the
IBEW trades.
After the last contract offer the
Negotiating Committee went back to the table and made changes based on the
feedback received at the last Council Meeting. “Wages and Pension,” were
enhanced and a fourth year, at 4% was added to the package. The 420
Transfer (transfer of pension dollars to offset retiree medical costs) was
dropped from the proposal. The Negotiating Committee presented these
changes to the Delegates. During the meeting a number of questions were
asked and addressed by the Committee. Afterwards the Delegates voted on
the recommendation of the proposal. The Proposal has been recommended
both by the Negotiating Committee as well as the System Council.
The proposals are being distributed
throughout the state today, Friday 3/25 and on Monday 3/28. Informational
meetings have been scheduled through out the Local Unions and the System
Committee will be attending all meetings. Please plan on attending the
meeting in your area so that you may have first hand information on the
changes in the proposal.
All
votes on the proposal are scheduled and the results will be announced
April 15th, 2005. Absentee Ballots may be requested through
your Local Union per the System Council Bylaws. The ballots must be
either hand delivered to the Election Judge or returned by US Mail. |
