Remaining Proposals

Over the past couple of weeks the committees have been discussing the few remaining proposals which have not been agreed to.  The two issues that the committees spent the most time on were Health Care and the PSL Nuclear staffing issue.  Although we were close on reaching a tentative agreement on health care, we now seem to be far apart on a few premium issues for the plans. As for the nuclear staffing issue we are still hung up on some of the same issues such as;

  • Delayed assignment dates to PSL,
  • Newly hired transition employees placed on Special Crew above minimum staffing levels
  • Posting all future vacancies at PSL and PTN until all transition employees’ seniority allows them to be awarded a job thru J-Post
  • Development and implementation of training program.

We have also reached a point in negotiations where we are editing language on proposals which have been tentatively agreed upon.  If we can settle the few remaining issues on the table we could have a contract proposal to present to the System Council Delegates and Officers in the near future, however, there is always a possibility that the Company and Union will not be able to reach agreement on the remaining issues which would require continuing negotiations.

 Once a tentative agreement is reached, the proposal will be presented at a special called System Council Meeting. The Delegates and Officers will review the proposal and make a recommendation to the membership based on the newly negotiated language, wages and benefits.
